KhaVedamsa Chart

KhaVedamsa, or D40 chart is used to predict a native’s mother, ancestors, and auspicious or inauspicious planets. This is also called as Chatvarimshamsha chart.

Calculation

Each sign of 30º is divided into 40 parts of 0º45΄ each called Khavedamsa or Chatvarimshamsha.   

D40 is created based on the nature of the sign a planet is placed in a natal chart. 

• For odd signs, Aries, Gemini, Leo, Libra, Sagittarius & Aquarius- counting begins from Aries  
• even signs, Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio & Capricorn & Pisces- counting begins from Libra. 

To locate the correct house to place the planet.

Check which Khavedamsa the planet falls in. If it is between 13-24, subtract 12 from the Khavedamsa, and it will denote the sign where the planet will go. 21st Khavedamsa-(21-12=9) count 9houses from the sign. 

If it’s between 25-36, subtract 24 from the Khavedamsa, and it will denote the sign where the planet will go. 30th Khavedamsa= (30-24= 6) count 6 houses from the sign.

Purpose of the khavedamsa Chart

The matrilineal Karma of a native can be analyzed in this chart. This is the karmic bond between the native towards their Mother or her ancestors. Both fortunes and misfortunes that result from the maternal chords are foreseen in this chart. 

This chart represents the Superconscious mind of a native. It is a fourth layer/part of the mind where various thought patterns from past life incarnations and evolutionary data is stored.  

The actual auspiciousness of the ascendant, other planets, or their houses from the natal chart can be well studied in this chart.

Interpretation

For example, in the natal chart, Ascendant is at 1º23’ in Aries, Sun is at 15 º22’ in Virgo.
According to the table and rules, Ascendant is in the second Khavedamsa, moving to the second house from Aries, Taurus sign.

Common Inferences on D40

Planet Moon is the natural Significator of this chart. Moon denotes maternal relationships, mind and emotional well-being of native. 

This chart is an extension of 4th house in natal chart. 

If the ascendant and lord of the ascendant house is well placed in the D40 chart, the native might inherit fortunes and great legacy through the maternal relationships. The native will have a healthy, enriching maternal bond.

 If the ascendant or 5th, 7th and 9th houses are occupied by a malefic planet or aspected by malefic planet like Rahu, Ketu and Saturn, the native has strained maternal relationship, and is deprived of motherly love.
