Punarvasu Nakshatra, 'The Star of Renewal,' is the seventh Nakshatra of 27 nakshatras. When the moon was between 80° 00′ to 90°00′ Gemini and 90°00′ to 93°20′ of Cancer, we term this constellation, Punarvasu.

Astronomically, this Nakshatra has two bright stars called Castor (Alpha-Geminorium) and Pollux (Beta-Geminorium). In Sanskrit, Punarvasu translates to "Punar," meaning to repeat, and "vasu," meaning "ray of light," i.e., "turning into light again."

Punarvasu Characteristics

This star makes the natives highly ambitious and full of ideas. Hence, a natural interest in philosophical teachings and spiritual writings is seen. Punarvasu Nakshatra is the silence after the storm, the silence and sense of ease that reinstates after the chaos.

Even in the order of the nakshatras, this Nakshatra comes after Ardra, which the Lord of the storms rules. The ruling deity of this Nakshatra is Aditi, the universal mother of all celestial beings and Goddess of abundance. Ruling deity imparts nurturing quality and empathetic nature to this Nakshatra. Jupiter is the ruling planet.

This Nakshatra is symbolized by Bow and Quiver of Arrows denoting higher ambitions in life. Being apathetic, lazy, and unwilling to invest in self are some of the major shortcomings of this Nakshatra.

However, these natives can be great writers and inspiring orators with profound imagination and spiritual progress, the ability to easily connect with anyone. Every Nakshatra has a set of attributes like a planetary overlord, nakshatra group, rashi, animal, Guna, symbol, and power.
