SaptaVimsamsa Chart

Saptavimshamsha chart is seen for determining a native’s physical strength and weaknesses. This chart is also referred to as Bhamsa or Nakshatramsa chart. This chart is not much used in Vedic astrology.

Calculation

This divisional chart divides each sign into 22 amsas called Nakshatramsa or Bhamsa. The meaning of the Sanskrit word Saptavimsha is twenty-seven. 

One Bhamsa is 1 º 6’ 40”. The whole of the zodiac has a total of about 324 Bhamsas. 

1Bhamsa = 30 º /27 = 1 º 6’40”

To create a D27 chart, the longitude of the planets in the natal chart are accurately mapped with the corresponding Bhamsa division and placed accordingly. Any change in the time seconds might also result in a completely different chart. This is one of the reasons this chart is not much utilized. 

Based on the nature of the sign, the counting begins. 

Fiery signs, Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius: Counting starts from Aries.

Earthly sign, Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn - Counting starts from Cancer.

Airy sign, Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius -Counting starts from Libra.

Watery signs, Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces - Counting starts from Capricorn.

Purpose of the SaptaVimsamsa Chart

D27 chart represents the overall strength, stamina & weakness of a native.

The general vitality of a person can be seen from this chart.

Interpretation

For example, the natal chart shows Mars at 06 º 36’51” in Cancer,
Mars is at Sixth Bhamsa of Cancer,
In the D27 chart, Mars will be placed sixth from Capricorn, Gemini.

Every bhamsa is mapped with a nakshatra lord as their deity.

Planet Mars is the natural significator of this chart. He denotes the strength and physical constitution of the native. The placement of Mars is of high importance. 

Jupiter influencing the 5th house in D27 Chart makes a great visionary. Also increases the foresightedness of the native.

6th house, when occupied by benefic planets, especially Moon, makes the native skillful and talented. 4th and 10th houses also, when aspected by benefic planets or lords placed in their own lagna, makes the native physically strong with sharp determination and will power.

Every planet denotes a particular organ, body part; when a planet is debilitated in the chart, the native might experience diseases in that organ and experiences good health in case of exaltation.
